What is Industry 4.0?
By all intents and purposes, industry 4.0 means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. At the highest level, the one in which all others neatly fit under, it refers to the next industrial revolution. That’s right, industry 4.0 is the latest revolution in the series that started some 200 years ago. Beginning with the genesis of large scale manufacturing, and over the course of two centuries (and two further revolutions) industry 4 is the next logical step, but one that there are no definite answers as to what exactly it refers to.
For some, industry 4.0 refers to industry-wide digitisation, for others it might be real-time data analysis and access to information from anywhere in the world, and for the rest, it might refer to automation and the introduction of a wider array of robotics throughout the industry.
For us though, industry 4.0 is a combination of all of the above. It’s about everything being made easy with the help of automation. It’s about robots doing work that is currently dangerous, dirty, dull and delicate, upskilling staff and having ready to go data, fully analysed. In a single word industry, 4.0 is ‘automation’, automated working, automated data analysis and automated workflow, and it follows those revolutions of ‘mass production, ‘electricity’ and ‘computerisation’.
Making Bauromat PLC System Industry 4.0 Ready (Key Industry 4.0 Features)
Our unique PLC system is an important component to make the transition into industry 4.0 and can take your manufacturing to the next level. Integrated into industrial robotic systems as an option, with a large touch screen HMI (human man interface) the end-user can have the PLC system tailor-made to suit their requirements. With choices ranging from digital manuals, differing levels of access and full OEE (overall equipment efficiency) data available here are some of the key features that take your automation from industry 3 into industry 4.
Real-Time Data Analysis
At Bauromat we understand the importance of your data and how it can help you make the most of your industrial robotic automation. One of the most requested features of PLC systems is for real-time data analysis and OEE. This allows you to easily navigate through shifts to monitor their efficiency while also highlighting any significant anomalies; all easily navigated with a touch screen HMI.
24/7 Global Access
With certain options, cloud access can be a feature for your PLC system meaning that wherever in the world you are, at any time of the day, the system can be logged into and observed. What’s more, this feature also helps prevent unnecessary service visits as Bauromat can remotely log in to this system prior to see if problems can be solved remotely.
Integrated Robot Control
Despite offering training in order to allow users to be entirely comfortable using industrial robots, the PLC system can feature basic commands in order for the uninitiated to control it. Commands like ‘return to home’ can be programmed and accessed via the HMI, ensuring automation system stoppages are at a minimum and don’t always rely on the trained robotic engineers.
Why Choose Industry 4.0 PLC?
Industrial robot systems don’t have to feature these high quality, technological advanced, industry 4.0 ready PLC systems, but it certainly helps. When data analysis is a must, the system will be used by people at a variety of authority levels and keeping running is essential, industry 4.0 PLC systems are a must-have. Not only is it keeping up with current industry trends, but it is all about future-proofing and ensuring that when the revolution comes, you are at the front of the queue.
